Buying or selling a home is a huge life event. That hasn't changed in the past 25 years I have worked in Real Estate. What has changed is the vast amount of  information out there which would have us all believe we can become instant experts in any field which tickles our fancy. The object being to save money. Now, I am no dummy, but I am also not an accountant, a brain surgeon and definitely not a lawyer. I pay for these professional's education and experience. The reason being, one mistake can cost ten times the supposed savings you thought you would realize. Many folks are lulled into a false sense of confidence and knowledge when it comes to selling their own home and act as their own Realtor. Hiring a Realtor is not cheap- I get that- but like every other profession, not hiring a professional could cost you more. Bottom line? Something my dad told me..."You don't know what you don't know until it's too late."
